About

The secret to that crackling, golden-brown crust you get from a bakery isn’t just the recipe—it’s the steam. We designed our covered bread pan to capture that moisture, essentially creating a miniature steam oven right inside your home range. Our Covered Bread Pan turns a simple recipe into a bakery-quality result. It’s a simple tool that elevates your bread from “good” to “unforgettable.”

Why You Will Love This Pan:

  • The natural ceramic surface releases bread easily without heavy greasing.
  • Stoneware eliminates hot spots, ensuring your loaf bakes evenly
  • Crafted from pure, lead-safe clay with no synthetic coatings

My sourdough bakes perfectly in this pan. I’ve been baking it with the lid on for the time the recipe calls for and then an extra 10 minutes with the lid off.

Thanks for sharing your photo. That bread looks delicious! Thanks also for the information you shared about the extra 10 minutes. Enjoy your new Covered Bread Pan!

  2. Perry Aberli –

Great craftsmanship! Works great! Suggestion would be to add small side “lips” on bottom section to facilitate moving it when hot – and it does stay hot!

    • Emerson Creek Marketing –

Thanks for your purchase of our Covered Bread Pan, and for your suggestion. We will definitely take this idea to the design team.

  3. Alice K. –

I ordered this for my daughter as a gift. She loves the bread I make and so I gave her this piece of pottery. Her kids LOVE the bread she makes in this pan.

    • Emerson Creek Marketing –

Alice, thank you for buying a Covered Bread Pan for your daughter. It sounds like it’s making the kids very happy! We just love that you passed along your love of bread baking to her!

Beautiful piece of pottery. The results of the bread I baked in it was very disappointing. A small loaf and no crustiness.

    • Emerson Creek Marketing –

Jean, we’re so sorry to learn that you’re disappointed with the results you had while baking bread with our Covered Bread Pan. We’ve found adjusting the flour or yeast ratio can sometimes help with these issues. Be sure to also check out our blog at emersoncreekpottery.live to view a few different bread recipes that you could try. We hope you’ll keep baking – and have fun trying out different recipes!

It bakes up fine but it’s not as stable nor heavy as my first one two years ago. I still like the way my bread bakes up.

    • Emerson Creek Marketing –

We are so glad you’re happy with the way your bread bakes in the Covered Bread Pan! Because the pans are handmade, there are always small differences between batches. Sounds like it’s working great! Enjoy!

  7. Pat Bitton –

I had read elsewhere that pottery should not be heated beyond 428 degrees, which didn’t quite work for me. When baking bread in cast iron, I bake at 485 degrees – can I do this safely with your bread pan (which I bought at the wonderful Rosebud store in Eureka)?

    • Emerson Creek Marketing –

Hi Pat. This is a great question. We always recommend not going higher than 450F for our bakeware, however, we’ve heard that others have used the Covered Bread Pan in the oven up to 500. The choice is yours, but please do call us if there are any issues. Also, please remember not to take the pan from one extreme temperature to another (like from the fridge directly to the oven). Thanks for your purchase and happy baking!
